Turn the Lights Out and Listen Tuesday: Adele- Chasing Pavements

You know, the very first time I heard this song it was in the morning on VH1. It was one of the videos played by new artist, Adele... incredible. I would recommend turning the lights out once you've watched the video a few times. She hardly fits into the Old School Classics category I've been posting on Tuesdays, however, she is an artist with a stronger substance than most artists out today. I love her voice- the way it crackles a bit with her little accent. Awh! It's quite soulful, in fact, I literally drown in this track specifically because I can relate to the words and the feelings the gestures inflict in this video.
Oh, how I love the concept of this video... I could hug it! It's crazy because it shares with you the paradise experienced between the two lovers in the midst of disaster. Perhaps, it suggests the moments someone experiences before something incredibly terrible happens- "my life flashed before my eyes!" In this case, it seems their souls are the ones reflecting since their lives have already expired. Jeeez, truly I hope they (the lovers) were still basking in the happiness they lived after the were killed. But, wait! The deception! That cheating lint licker of a woman! She gives good women bad names!
In any case... this is a great song... get it on your iPod ASAP! AND! She has another track I love off of the same album entitled, 19, released in 2008. That's a must-have! Get it!
Enjoy!

Today was a Good Day!

Hilarity, took place today and I will work you into that part.

Today, while I was at work, I look up and there he was... ICE CUBE aka Oshea Jackson!
Oooh! What a nice name! Oshea... it just pronounces smooth like silk! Whooo! Oshea...
I looked at him in his face and all I could say was, "Oh, my God! Shut up!"
There was no doubt in my mind that I looked like a complete idiot to him- at least his face didn't show what he must have been thinking! Ha!
His demeanor is actually quite intimidating however, he's a smiler! A humble one at that!
Jackie- my coworker- I call him Jackie but his real name is Jack, was shaking his hand and Mr. Oshea... Oshea... Oshea... smiled so big and was happy to hear what Jackie had to say...
And his facial features are quite strong in person!
I didn't mind it...
There's a reason why I have most of his movies and know plenty of his songs...
People like that get far...
What's funny is that one of the guys in his party asked us how we were doing and Jackie said, "Great!"
And the guy replied, "Well, that's great! I guess today was a good day!"
All is could do was crack up like the dumb fool I am and say, "I like how you said that!"
Ha!
I'm tickled by his whole thing!
Yay!

Part Dalawa
(Dalawa means two in Tagalog aka a filipino dialect- Yeah, I just schooled you!)

I'm standing there next to my homie, Carlo and when I turn around, I see this woman who happens to be more beautiful in person and is awfully familiar! I move closer to her and stare harder to her face and say, "Oh! It's you!"
It was the wife and family of Terry Crews from the BET TV show The Family Crews.

I look at Carlo and he's bouncing his pecks up and down! Hahahahhahahaaaaa! I said to him, "Carlo, what the heck are you doing?!"
He said, "I was doing that way before her husband was!"
Ahahahhahaaaaaaa!
Ahhahahhaaaaa!
Can you believe he actually told her that while he was bouncing them up and down?!
Ahahahahahaaaa!
My friend Carlo...

I just want you to know that you are such a special friend to me!
Lol!
The end.
Aahahahaaaa!

DJ Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid Capri!

Word! So, today was pretty cool! I met DJ Kid Capri...
I remember him from Def Comedy Jam way back in the day and the radio growing up. And who could forget his trademark, "DJ Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid Capri?!"
Wow! It was a cool moment for me...

There he was...
I was like, "Oh snap! That's Kid Capri!"
Lol! I'm such a fool!
I thought to say, "hello!" because he is a Music Lover like me... we have something in common!
Word! That was hot!
Of course, I said the same dumb thing I always say when I see someone worth saying hello to-
"Is it you?!"
Oh, dear goodness... I guess that's what makes me one of a kind!
Never mind the fact that he had a DJ KID CAPRI sticker on his laptop as if that didn't give it away!
Who's a dork? You're probably thinking, Mo-ni-caaaa!
So! I don't care! I might even agree with you!
What's really cool is that he was so giddy- high on life even! He just kept smiling and was completely personable! I love that about humble people! What a nice guy!

For those of you that need a trip back down memory lane...
I give you...
Def Comedy Jam hosted by Martin Lawrence and DJ Kid Capri!
CLASSIC!
Can you believe this was 18 years ago?! Crazy!
Get it!

"Turn the Lights Out and Listen Tuesday"- The Delfonics- Hey Love

People taaaaalk... about youuuuuuu!

They didn't lie when they said nothing is new! I have always been a fan of the classics, thanks to my dear daddy-o! I appreciate good music that makes you feels good. It presents substance, unlike a lot of music today. Since music isn't what it used to be and some people just don't know what a true classic is... allow me to school you! This is just one of the many classics I will be posting during the course of our brand new relationship.
Now, let me state for the record, I am a singer. I am good at it, too! However, I feel that if I do put out more music, it
has to be a classic or else I'm just another chick on the radio or iPod making sounds with my mouth. Honestly, I am not in the right state of mind to complete such a task. There's something about being "caught in a moment" and being "timeless" that challenges me. Mentally, I'm an investor. Let me present you a product that will last a lifetime. Sometimes, it happens over night. Sometimes it takes years. That's real talk.
It used to be that the talent is what entertained. These gentlemen have not lost their place in time...
I give you, the brilliant stylings of The Delfonics!
Do enjoy!

"Turn the Lights Out and Listen Tuesday"- Sylvester James- You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)

Youuu maaake me feel! Migh-ty reeeal!
I never knew this was a man singing this song!
Well...
He sings plenty better than many women today out there on Auto-Tune! Girl, that ain't (I know
ain't aint a word... we already discussed this!) singing!
In any case, he kills this song! I mean I want to call up one of my homegirls and hit up
Revolutions!
Straight up!
He was really big in the 70's for his incredible voice and disco music. Unfortunately, he did pass away for reasons irrelevant to this posting.
This record right here really makes me wanna dance like a fool wearing a garment filled with glitter and big poofy hair!
Do turn your lights out, but don't forget your disco ball light! Ow!
Fierce! Three snaps in a mutha flippin' circle!
Get it!

Playaaah Hater... Turn Ya Head 'Round

It has come to the light that some people will never accept an "individual" (we will define this word as someone unique or different) for what they are if they are not moving in the same direction as a crowd. We need to someday come to an understanding that some of us are banal, some are invisible (we're all adults here, so let's keep it real), some are flamboyant, eccentric, fancy... I could go on and on... Either way we are who we are and it's not up to any of us to place judgment on someone else because they're different. Well, Chuck Wilson said it better (shouts to PRHS!!! What! What!), "It's not that they're different or weird, you just don't understand them." That's deep. Go, Chuck! :0)
Then again, you could just be jealous or envious and of course, that's a sin to desire what others have. But, let's not get religious up in here- we'll just comfortably call it a "very bad thing." There!
Who ever you are, whatever your craft... Make the best choice you can- be originally you. Do the dag on thang, ok? Quit playin' games!
I mean work it! Swing it! Strut it! Watch it, wait... Touch it! Bring it! Pay it! Watch it! Turn it! Leave it! Stop! Format it! Heyyyy! Go! Go! Go!
P.S. I really love music! You have no ideaaa!
Who really cares, you ask? A hater!

Besides, if you know anything about a knock-off, they always lose it's stitching! Honey, you can never cheat the real thing!
Get it!

"Turn the Lights Out and Listen Tuesday"- Rose Royce- Love Don't Live Here Anymore

Just no vacancy! Love don't live heeere anymore!
This record right here...
Oh, boy...
This record right here...
This is for the hurting soul.
Now, don't get me wrong, I am not miserable, so there is no story behind me posting this.
Her voice, Gwen Dickey, really illustrates the pain and anger in a more civil way that I can stand in delight with because she still gets the point across. It bares more of an exhausted type of rejection to her lover.
[ For those of you who don't know, this was her last recording with Rose Royce and the feeling she is projecting was because she was going to leave the group. Resentment. Look it up!]
It's weird for the reason that she's not defeated in this track. She understands that it is what it is... and whatever it may be, it don't live here anymore!
Definite and infinite classic!
Turn the lights out and listen!
Get it!
